# Authentication

> How API consumer authentication will be documented.

API consumer authentication is managed by the 1Funnel Identity Platform. This portal will document the approved developer-facing flow. It does not issue tokens or API keys.

  The External Integration API is not generally available. Nothing on this page
  is a production endpoint, credential, or response schema.

The approved security model is not published yet. Until it is, this page does not specify:

* a credential type
* a token or authorization URL
* scopes or permissions
* header names
* sample credentials

When the model is approved, the documentation change must be reviewed before it is merged. See the contributor guide in the documentation repository for the review rule.

The [API reference authentication page](/api-reference/authentication) will track the same approved model. The interactive API playground stays disabled until that model is approved.
